Gombe field season 2026 begins

The 2026 field season at the Gombe Stream Research Centre is officially underway. Our team of researchers, field assistants, and visiting students will be in residence through October, continuing the long-term behavioral monitoring that began in 1960. This year's focus includes the M-community's habitat range, which has expanded westward following the death of the alpha male, Faustino, last spring.
